Well, I mean, who hasn't done that? Show of hands, anyone here never get drunk and run a vessel aground? Didn't think so.

I t could have been worse.

The Galveston jetties are over two miles long and rather low. B oats run into them regularly, big boats less frequently. I walked out to one that happened when I lived there in the early ‘90s. It was surprising that something that big can move fast enough to high-center on a pile of rocks.

That was my thought. A simple grounding on a soft beach was probably the best possible outcome for this incident.

Kinja'd!!!

As it is, the port they were aiming for has some substantial jetties that would have wrecked the boat and likely dumped fuel into one of the fastest tide currents in the region.

Kinja'd!!!

The boat ran aground somewhere along the beach that I marked here.

That’s definitely C/Average work for three minutes in MS Paint.

I need to find a symmetrical screen shot of a Tesla dash so I can just drop in square Google maps screenshots in the future.

Finding an aerial view took at least thirty seconds which is way more effort than I expect people to spend interacting with me

I had a manager that was super strict when it came to spending. It bugged us as all the other groups would go out once a month for pizza. after a couple years we found out. Turns out, at his previous company, they crashed a boat onto a sand bar in Plymouth bay  . Boat came to dead stop, and luckily just about everyone flew into the water. During the investigation an interesting question arose, why does an engineering company own a 23' power boat? (they did nothing nautical).
